Massachusetts State Trap Shooting Champ!!

Saturday, June 7, 2008 was the day of the Massachusetts State Trap Shooting Championship

Saturday, June 7, 2008 was the day of the Massachusetts State Trap Shooting Championship.  This annual event was held at the Minuteman Sportsmen's Club in Burlington Massachusetts.  Despite 95 degree temperatures, shooters from all over the northeast competed for a variety of state titles and trophies prizes. Thirteen year old Adam Preston, a junior member from the Hanson Rod & Gun Club as well as a regular on the Cape Cod Fish & Game Association trap range broke two back to back scores of 94 out of 100 targets.  His final score was 188 out of 200 clay targets.  Adam, who started shooting trap two years ago, is currently finishing up his requirements for the NRA Shotgun Qualification Program rating of Distinguished Expert.  As a result of his score of 188,  Adam won the title of Massachusetts State Trap Shooting Champion in the sub junior open classification.  Pictured is Adam with his first ever trophy from the Amateur Trap Shooting Association.

Trap and Fame’s Favored Few

Co – Chairmen: Peter Morgavio & Dan Welch

The Roger Lofberg Memorial Winter Trap League is now a matter of club history. Pictured inset is Jim Gillespie with the "Top Gun" trophy.  Additionally, also pictured inset is Roger Lofberg's wife Florence and her daughter who were presented Roger Lofberg's "Honorary Distinguished Expert" Certificate. This award was presented to Mrs. Lofberg to commemorate Roger's excellence in trap shooting. Please be advised that this certificate will be awarded to all club shooters who complete the NRA Shotgun Qualification Program.  March 16, 2008 was the date of our hopefully now annual Trap Ham Shoot. Despite both windy and cold conditions the Trap Committee was able to run 10 squads that day.  As a result, ten shooters went home with some beautiful "Ham" prizes. Special congrats go to Ken Joudrey who won two hams that morning.  Special thanks also go out to all the club shooters (as well as our brothers from the Midway club) who helped make this event possible.  All members are reminded that Trap is shooting Saturday Mornings at 10 AM, Sunday Mornings at 9am and Friday afternoons at 12 noon. The cost to shoot is a mere $3.00 dollars per round of 25 clay targets.  Non members will pay just a dollar more!  Our trap range is open to all whether you are a novice, a rookie, an expert or an ATA superstar. Everyone is welcome so come on down and join us for some shooting fun! All Trap Shooting enthusiasts are encouraged to sign up for the NRA Qualification Program. Trap Shooters will now earn badges for achieving various levels of proficiency.  Currently we now have four shooters collecting their badges for their respective levels of shotgun proficiency. The cost is a one-time charge of $5 dollars.  In addition to the NRA patch, shooters will earn various “chevron” type badges for levels of Pro-Marksmen, Marksmen, Sharpshooter, Expert and Distinguished Expert.  At the conclusion of the program each shooter will receive a framed certificate of accomplishment and completion.

Thirteen Year Old Shoots First 25 STRAIGHT

Please be advised that on Sunday, December 2, 2007, on our club trap range at about 10:20 AM, Adam Preston age 13, broke his first 25 straight run of targets. Witnesses to this event were Peter Morgavio, score keeper for the round, Jack Martin, Ken Joudrey, Ray Ertel and Adam’s Dad, Bob Preston. As a result, Adam was awarded his first “25 STRAIGHT” patch for his shooting jacket. Pictured inset, that grin about says it all!
