Chow Italia!!

Everyone is further reminded that the November Dinner Meeting will feature our annual club’s Italian Extravaganza!!  So you all had best bring your appetites

August Meeting:

Congratulations should go out to the August Kitchen Crew who put together a wonderful BBQ pork spare rib and chicken dinner.  Over 45 plus members and guests dined that evening on some real savory treats from the grille.  Special thanks go to Bob Preston, Bruce Gustowski, Jim Gillespie, Ray Ertel, Jill & Al Savage, Marcia & Dan Welch and Club President George Bagitt.  A further thank you goes out to member Tom Kelley who assisted with raffle sales that evening.  This was a rather expensive meal to produce and as a result the club broke even on the dinner ticket sales that evening.  However, due to the donation of a pair of duffel bags embroidered with the club logo and the American Flag, the club was able to take in a respectable amount of revenue from that evening’s raffle ticket sales. A thank you goes to Abra-Cadabra Embroidery & Screen-Printing for this contribution..

Trap Range:

Dan Welch Chairman

All members are reminded that Trap is shooting Sunday Mornings at 9am and Friday afternoons from 12pm until 2pm. The cost to shoot is a mere $3.00 dollars per round of 25 clay targets.  Non members will pay just a dollar more!  Our trap range is open to all whether you are a novice, a rookie, an expert or an ATA superstar. Everyone is welcome so come on down and join us for some shooting fun!

Fame’s Favored Few:

Well the current ATA shoots are winding down for this year.  As of this date Ray Ertel, Jim Gillespie, Bob Fratus, Bob Borges, Chet Wright and Bob Preston will be participating in the 22nd Northeastern Grand American Trap Championship in Cicero NY.  This 6-day event brings in shooters from across the “northeastern zone” of our country.  Our gang will be competing against 500 other trap shooters from New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.  By the time this is published the results will be in.  Watch this space for details for the further adventures of “Fame’s Favored Few.”

Fourth Annual Slug Shoot:

Come on give it a try!!  I double dog dare you!!!  With the arrival of fall we can expect the hunting season to be right around the corner.  With that in mind, all members should plan to participate in the Fourth Annual Trophy Shotgun Slug Shoot to help them get ready for harvesting that trophy buck! This now annual event is scheduled for 1PM,  Sunday, November 3, 2007. (Rain date to be Sunday, November 11, 2007.) Last year we had about 14 shooters show up to compete in this program. Trophy plaques will be distributed for the scoped or aim point category champions as well as the iron sight category champions. Shooters must make three shots at a 25-yard target as well as make three shots at a 50-yard target. The resulting scores will be tracked against the other shooter’s scores. The cost to shoot is $5.00 dollars.  Re-ups are $4.00 dollars. All shooters must bring their own ammo.  Any shooter and any gauge shotgun is welcome. Over the years I have heard about many members being comparable to Buffalo Bill Cody. The stories do abound around the old clubhouse. It is time to determine who REALLY gets to keep the bragging rights for the title of “Top Gun” for the next year!!  For further details  please contact Bob Preston at (774) 406- 1573.

Toys For Tots and Holiday Party:

All members are reminded that it is that time of year again.  The holidays will be upon us very soon.  Please be advised that once again our club will be doing its part to help a deserving Cape Cod youngster have a better Christmas.  Please be advised our Toys For Tots collection box will be set up in the clubhouse as of October 15th, 2007. Each year our club’s participation gets better and better.  The number of toys supplied by our members is nothing to sneeze at as we do produce a pile of gifts for kids in need across Cape Cod.  Please be advised that the Marines have assured our organization that all contributions are distributed to only Cape Cod youngsters. Please donate an age specific, unwrapped toy to the clubhouse as soon as possible.  You contribution will be greatly appreciated.

Third Annual Holiday Party:

Hard to believe but in the very near future we will be decking the halls of the Cape Cod Fish & Game Association clubhouse to make ready for the upcoming holiday season. Please be advised that this year’s “Holiday Party” is scheduled to take place at our clubhouse at 6 PM, Saturday Evening, December 8th, 2007.  Partygoers can expect a wonderful roast beef dinner with potato, vegetable, salad and dessert.  There will be a number of raffles that evening as well as a few other surprises. Only sixty tickets are available and last year was a complete sell out. All attendees are also asked to donate to the club’s Toys For Tots program.  Please be advised that all toys will be collected by the Marine Corp. at our December Business Meeting on Tuesday Evening, December 11th, 2007. Tickets for the “Holiday Party” are $10 dollars each for adults and $6.00 dollars each for kids twelve and under. For further details and tickets sales please contact Bob Preston at (774) 406-1573.
