What Is That Thing!!

If you mean that 45 foot plus structure being built across the far left back left side of trap field number two, that would be our new solid shot screen!  At this point the poles are being sunk as part of the first stage of this construction project.  The entire shot screen should be completed by early spring.  When this is completed we will reopen trap number two and hold additional shoots, inter-club competitions and perhaps resume ATA events.

Trap Ham Shoot

Scheduled For March 16th, 2008 at 9am

Trap is having a “Lucky Bird” Shoot on Sunday, March 16th, 2007. Ham prizes will be given out to a winning shooter for each five-person trap squad.  White birds and orange birds will be thrown as targets.  The shooter who breaks the most white birds wins the match and the ham prize.  In the event of a tie, the highest overall shooter of that round wins!!  Interested shooters should see Dan O’Welch or Peter O’Morgavio on the trap range for all details.

Trap and Fame’s Favored Few

Co – Chairmen: Peter O’Morgavio & Dan O’Welch

The Roger Lofberg Trap League is now in it’s 12th week.  That means there is about a month left in this competition and to date Fame’s Favored Few has been doing some fancy shooting! Currently there is a “battle royal” going on for the title of “Club Champion.” This soon to be legendary “clash of the titans” is between Dan O’Welch and Jim O’Gillespie who are taken it down to the very last shot shell!  In the Master’s Class the competition is getting fierce between Bob O’Preston, Jack O’Martin, Peter O’Morgavio and Chet O’Wright.  In the Experts Class, Randy O’Foy is clearly in the lead however both Don O’Funkhauser and Adam O’Preston are coming up on him fast.  In the Sharpshooter’s Squad,  Gil O’Wilson seems to have a commanding lead over the rest of the pack.  In the “Women’s Division” trap newcomer Cheryl O’Ellis has this category sewn up.  In the “Veteran’s Class” if Bob O’Fratus  can stay the course he might just win the category.  As they say “It ain’t over until the Fat Lady Sings!”  Well she may not be singing an opera yet but warm ups are certainly being heard.  A potluck awards night is expected later this month.

Breaking Clay Makes Our Day!!!

All members are reminded that Trap is shooting Saturday Mornings at 10 AM, Sunday Mornings at 9am and Friday afternoons from 12pm until 2pm. The cost to shoot is a mere $3.00 dollars per round of 25 clay targets.  Non members will pay just a dollar more!  Our trap range is open to all whether you are a novice, a rookie, an expert or an ATA superstar. Everyone is welcome so come on down and join us for some shooting fun!

NRA Shotgun Qualification Course:

All Trap Shooting enthusiasts are encouraged to sign up for the NRA Qualification Program. Trap Shooters will now earn badges for achieving various levels of proficiency.  Currently we have three shooters collecting their badges for their respective levels of shotgun proficiency. The cost is a one-time charge of $5 dollars.  In addition to the NRA patch, shooters will earn various “chevron” type badges for levels of Pro-Marksmen, Marksmen, Sharpshooter, Expert and Distinguished Expert.  At the conclusion of the program each shooter will receive a framed certificate of accomplishment and completion.  WAY COOL!! Congrats to Don O’Funkhauser who recently earned his marksmen's certification and also to Adam O’Preston who recently earned his sharpshooters certification

Archery:

Al  O’Savage Chairman

All members are reminded that the 3D Shoots are back on the Sunday morning club schedule.  Please be advised that each 3rd Sunday Morning during the months of March and April, our club will host the ever popular Archery 3D Shoot. This month’s shoot is scheduled for Sunday, March, 16th, 2008. As in the past, this event begins at 7am! Breakfast will be available to all members and their guests on each of these monthly shoot days.  This event is also scheduled for Sunday, April 20th, 2008.

As always, Anyone interested in learning about archery is encouraged to attend the club’s Wednesday Night Archery session on the club’s indoor range at 7pm.  All interested persons should see Al O’Savage for details.

Speaking of Breakfast:

Hats off two both Jill O’Savage and Ken O’Joudrey for a sensational job at the January 3D Shoot.  I am no food critic however Ken and Jill have missed their calling as what a feed they put out for club members and their guests at the January Shoot.  Traditionally our breakfasts for these shoots have always been popular as the kitchen has not only fed the archery aficionados but also all the trap shooting crew for the day. All members are encouraged to come down and sample the fare on these early Sunday Mornings.  There is absolutely no reason to wait in a line for a table at some ritzy coffee shop when you can sit right down and order up with your fellow club members. Members are encouraged to bring their significant others along as well! Worried about your significant other’s take on the clubhouse?  We have a few whole families coming in for Sunday Morning Breakfast.  Don’t be left out.  To date this has been one of the best-kept secrets on the Cape.
