The entry fee is $20.00 dollars. All participants who shoot at least 12 of the 16 weeks will win a trophy prize. All interested shooters should note that in this contest everyone is grouped to be competing against shooters of their own level of ability. All shooters are also able to compete for the grand prize and title of “Top Gun and Club Champion.” An awards night and “potluck style” banquet will be held for all league participants at the conclusion of this contest. It should be noted that at this time we have over seventeen participants signed up for this event. As of this report (week five of the sixteen week program) Dan Welch seems to be in the lead. However Ray Ertel, Jim Gillespie, Jack Martin and Peter Morgavio may within a few weeks may be able to change that! Welcome aboard to some of our newer shooters. We do enjoy seeing some new faces to the range. We need to welcome Don Watkins and Cheryl Ellis. A special thank you goes out to senior member Don Funkhauser for painting the trap house.

The cost to shoot is a mere $3.00 dollars per round of 25 clay targets. Non members will pay just a dollar more! Our trap range is open to all whether you are a novice, a rookie, an expert or an ATA superstar. Everyone is welcome so come on down and join us for some shooting fun!

Hunting In Newfoundland: Did you ever wonder where BOD Member Mel Peck and Club President George Baggitt were during the latter part of September? Did you think it was a tad funny that neither were present during our highly celebrated club pig roast and end of summer BBQ? Well here is the proof they were hundreds of miles (or in their case kilometers) away in the land of Newfoundland experiencing the moose hunt of a lifetime!!
Both Mel and George were flown into the wilderness. They were over 60 miles away from the nearest road. Although the trip was physically demanding according to Mel it was very a rewarding experience. The particular guide that worked with Mel was very professional. The hunt was very successful. This was a very long stalk and one that made the hunt worthwhile. The moose was called in by the guide from a distance of 1.5 to 2 miles away. Mel took the 900-pound moose with his rifle and posed for a picture with his trophy. It is obvious that both George and Mel had a very successful hunt. Regrettably both missed the festivities here at the clubhouse but who could blame them. I am sure that in retrospect the moose wished they both had stayed home for the club BBQ.! Congratulations guys! Nice shooting! As I recall we did save you some leftovers from the picnic.
Editor’s Note: Any members with who would wish to contribute a story of their successful hunting or fishing experience is encouraged to do so. I will be sure that it is published in our club newsletter. Photos of your wilderness experience are greatly appreciated. Please email your story to ccfg119@aol.com. Thank you in advance…………………..Bob P.
Five Year Plan: It was once said that “Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.” Amongst a number of managerial strategists this became known as “The Seven P Principle.” Members wishing to make relevant suggestions to this long term agenda for our organization are urged to contact Howie Bearse. Your input is appreciated.
