December Business Meeting: Please be advised that the December Business Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. The menu for this month’s dinner is unknown at this time. However the dinner, whatever it may be, will be served at 7pm. The meeting will begin at approximately 8pm. As always all members are urged to arrive early to get a good seat. I might add here a real good seat. You all can thank your backsides as Tom Kelley is to thank for arranging a great deal to get us all some newer padded chairs in the clubhouse! Thanks again Tom!

Roger Lofberg Winter Trap League: Bob Preston Chairman: The Second Annual Roger Lofberg Winter Trap League began start on Sunday Morning November 1, 2008. This league will run for 16 weeks. Like last year the entrance fee will be $20 per shooter. All shooters will need to shoot a minimum of two rounds of 25 clay pigeon targets each week. The resulting 2 highest scores of 25 (that being the best run of 50 targets) will be recorded for score. At the end of the 16 weeks we will drop your lowest four weeks. As a result the accumulation of each shooters highest twelve weekly scores will be their final score for the entire league. All shooters must shoot at least 12 of the weeks to qualify for a trophy prize. As of this time we currently have ten shooters signed up for the league. As of the first week our own Peter Morgavio is in first place with a score of 47 out of his first 50 targets. The rest of us were lucky to break in the 40s as the wind on that Sunday was pretty wild!! There is still time to enter the league and shoot a few make-ups!
Please be advised that the first couple of weeks will qualify each shooter into their proper classification of Sharpshooter Class, Expert Class or Master Class. Like last year a potluck supper and awards night will be held at out clubhouse some time in the early spring. For details please call Bob Preston at 774.406.1573 or 508.821.2002. Trap Range AKA The “Find’ em and Grind’ em Department”Co – Chairmen: Peter Morgavio & Dan Welch Trap:All members are reminded that Trap is shooting Saturday Mornings at 10 AM, Sunday Mornings at 9am as well as Friday afternoons at 12 noon. Our trap range is open to all whether you are a novice, a rookie, an expert or an ATA superstar. Everyone is welcome so come on down and join us for some shooting fun!
NRA Shotgun Qualification Program: All Trap Shooting enthusiasts are encouraged to sign up for the NRA Qualification Program. Trap Shooters will now earn badges for achieving various levels of proficiency. Currently we now have four shooters collecting their badges for their respective levels of shotgun proficiency. The cost is a one-time charge of $5 dollars. In addition to the NRA patch, shooters will earn various “chevron” type badges for levels of Pro-Marksmen, Marksmen, Sharpshooter, Expert and Distinguished Expert. At the conclusion of the program each shooter will receive a framed certificate of acheivement.
December Holiday Christmas Party: This year’s club Christmas Party will be held on Saturday Evening, December 6, 2008. Our holiday-decorated clubhouse will be open at 6pm for appetizers and a roast beef dinner will be served at 7pm. Tickets this year will be $15 per person and children aged 6 to 12 will be $5 dollars. Any youngsters attending aged 5 and under will be admitted with their parent or guardian free of charge.
All Christmas Party attendants are urged to also bring an UNWRAPPED toy to donate to the Marine’s Toys For Tots organization. All contributions are distributed to a lesser privileged Cape Cod youngster! Last year the club hosted over fifty holiday attendees and donated a pile of toys to the Marines and this very worthwhile organization. Members are urge to make contributions for the kids even if they cannot attend the Christmas Party. No kid should ever have a lesser Christmas if we can do our own part to help!
Regarding New Membership: A club member must sponsor new applicants. All applicants and sponsors must be interviewed for membership. After submitting an application, applicants will be contacted to schedule the interview. Anyone with a membership question is urged to contact Rick Kuzman at 508.896.9563.
Archery: Al Savage ChairmanAnyone interested in learning about archery is encouraged to attend the club’s Wednesday Night Archery session on the club’s indoor range at 7pm. All interested persons should see Al Savage for details.
Speaking of Archery!!3d Shoots are once again back in the club schedule as of January 18, 2009! This will continue monthly through April! Every third Sunday of the month our club will have an Archery 3D Shoot. The fun begins at dawn and breakfast will be available in the club house.
Fifth Annual Slug Shoot Is A Great Success!Sunday October 26, was the date of what is now an annual event on the club high power range. This was the date of our Shotgun Slug Shoot. A total of 14 shooters participated in 33 separate rounds to win trophy prizes for marksmanship. Congratulations went out to Mike London who won first place with a 36 in the open sight division. Second place went to Jim Gillespie with a 33. In the scope & aim point division first place went to Bob Preston with a 33. Second place went to Bill Liston with a 24.
This year’s Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award went to Peter Donovan who shot the low score of a perfect 0! If that wasn’t crazy enough Peter managed to squeak out a “5” with his subsequent retries. All of us on the range that day would like to personally thank Hanson Rod & Gun Club members Bill Liston & Rich Botto for making the trip down to our neck of the woods and shooting that day. Rich has shot trap here on our trap range a number of times. It is good to see other area club members participate in our events. All CCF&G members are urged to reciprocate that action and try to participate in other area club events as well.
Wonder Women Does Shoot Here! CCF&G would like to thank Ms. Cheryl Ellis who is a close friend of trap shooter Don Watkins. Cheryl who, while not officially a club member, is a regular each weekend on our club trap range. It seems while she is not swinging her 12 gauge Berretta to cancel the flight of a number of clay birds, she is in fact committing urban renewal on the clubs trap warming shed. If you get the chance you might notice the trim has been painted and the inside has never looked better. Even the benches have been stained! Thanks again Cheryl. Your efforts have certainly got our attention!

See You In Hollywood! The club would like to thank Harry Watley for his generous donation of a color TV set for the clubhouse. What with the new chairs and soon to be delivered new tables the old club lodge is shaping up nicely!
