Annual September Pig Roast:

Well last year’s club pig roast was a great success.  This year's should be all of that and more!! The Annual Club Pig Roast is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, September 20, 2008.  Along with the roast pig, attendees can expect burgers, dogs and BBQ chicken and a number of side dishes such as potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans etc.  So bring your appetite folks! There is no limit on the number of trips you can make to the buffet table!!   Also, a GUN RAFFLE as well as a CANOE RAFFLE can be expected that afternoon!  Pig Roast ticket prices for adults are $20.00 dollars and for kids 12 and under $10.00 dollars.  All tickets are available from any club officer or director.  For details please call Bob Preston at 774.406.1573!!

 

Pig Roast Lucky Gun Raffle:

The upcoming "Lucky Gun Raffle" will have a total of 200 tickets available for sale and they will go fast! The prize to be won is a Thompson Center Encore Pro-hunter. The winner will have a choice of caliber as well as the barrel. Each ticket will sell for a donation price of $10 dollars. The winning ticket to be drawn at the Pig Roast on September 20, 2008. The lucky winner of the gun will be able to pick up their prize at the Goose Hummock Shop.  Anyone wishing to purchase tickets should see George Baggitt.

 

Pig Roast Lucky Canoe Raffle:

This year's "Lucky Canoe" Raffle prize is to be on an Old Town, 14-foot long canoe. 300 total tickets are to be sold.  The price per ticket is $5.00 each.  A booklet of five tickets to cost a reduced price of $20.00 dollars. The lucky winning ticket will be drawn at the September 20 Pig Roast.

 

August Business Meeting:

Please be advised that the August Business Meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. The menu for the evening is rumored to be a mixed bag from the grille and is sponsored by Heidi Dykeman and Jill Savage. Dinner will be served at 7pm. As always, the meeting will begin at approximately 8pm. Members are encouraged to arrive early for a good seat.

 

August Board of Director's (BOD) Meeting:

Please be advised that this month’s Board of Director’s (BOD) Meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 7pm.

 

Trap and Fame’s Favored Few

All members are reminded that Trap is shooting: Wednesday Evenings at 6pm, Thursday afternoons at 12 noon, Friday afternoons at 12 noon, Saturday Mornings at 10 AM and Sunday Mornings at 9am. The cost to shoot is a mere $3.00 dollars per round of 25 clay targets.  Non members will pay just a dollar more!  Our trap range is open to all shooters whether you are a novice, a rookie, an expert or an ATA superstar. Everyone is welcome so come on down and join us for some "pigeon popping" fun!

 

“Pork and Pigeon Trap Challenge Trophy Shoot”

The Second Annual Trap Challenge Trophy Shoot will be held on Saturday morning, September 20, 2008 at 9am.  This is also the date of our annual Pig Roast.  The cost to shoot this 100-clay target event is $20 dollars for adults and $15 dollars for juniors 17 and under.  50 targets to be shot on range one and 50 targets to be shot on range two in front of our new shot screen AKA The Green Monster! Trophies will be awarded for Top Gun, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place as well as High Junior Shooter, High Women's Shooter and High Veteran Shooter. All will be distributed at the close of the contest. This event is open to all members, their guests as well as the public!

 

****All shooters are also urged to join us for our annual Pig Roast feast that begins at 2pm. Tickets for the Pig Roast are $20 for adults and $10 dollars for kids. You just can't beat a combination like this; guns, clays and pork! Interested shooters should contact Bob Preston at 774.406.1573 or Dan Welch at 508.274.8262.****

 

Northeast Grand American Trap Championship:

Well fall is right around the corner and with the arrival of the cooler weather we all know that September is almost here. In September, as in previous years, six of our own infamous trap shooters will make their annual pilgrimage to New York State to compete amongst 300 plus other shooters from across the Northeast.  Good luck to Ray Ertel, Jim Gillespie, Bob Fratus, Bob Borges, Dan Welch and Bob Preston.

 

Regarding New Membership:

A club member must sponsor new applicants. All applicants and sponsors must be interviewed for membership. After submitting an application, applicants will be contacted to schedule the interview. Anyone with a membership question is urged to contact Rick Kuzman at 508.896.9563. Please be advised that at the June Business Meeting, Rick Cuzman brought forward four applicants. They were Don Watkins, Jeff Foster, Frank Sierra and Mike Stearns. With a unanimous of the membership present on this evening, all were inducted into membership.  Welcome aboard gentlemen!!

 

Kitchen Department:

June's dinner was done by members Andrea Jalbert and Don Peterson. It should be noted that 42 dinners were sold and served.  A fantastic lasagna and salad dinner was enjoyed by all!  Please be advised that we are in search of cooks!!  Anyone interested in helping out with a club dinner is encouraged to step forward.  Cooks and helpers are needed for the dinner meetings.  If you can help out please see Bruce at any club meeting.

Pictured inset are our kitchen crew  in picture (1) and our grill crew in picture (2) who cooked dinner for over 50 members at the July Business Meeting.  All are new members!  Each is required to perform a small number of work hours as part of the new member initiation process.  The menu for the evening was BBQ chicken with corn on the cob and baked beans!  Good eats for all!  Great effort guys! Baptism by fire for sure!!

69th Annual Fishing Derby:

This being the 69th year of our organization's history, our pond crew of Kent Vieneau, Dick Swanson and the rest of the gang wish to remind everyone that the Annual Youth Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2008. The fun begins at 7am for kids of all ages. There will be a number of different contests and prizes for everyone!  Member help is needed for this event! The fishing committee is asking for donations of new fishing equipment that would be age appropriate to give to the young anglers as prizes the day of the event. If you are so inclined to provide fishing equipment or a donation for the event contact either Dick or Kent at any Business Meeting.  Please be advised that the first 24 kids through the club gate on the morning of August 16, 2008 will receive free commemorative t-shirts.

 

Archery:

With the 3D Season ending for the year in April, all archers are reminded that Archery is holding a weekly indoor program each Wednesday at 7:30pm. Interested Archers should see Al Savage on the indoor range.

 

Announcements: 

It was announced that Jack Martin will chair the Buildings and Structures Committee. Bob Preston will be in charge of Publicity.  Harry Whatling will again head up the chairmanship for the Legislative Committee.

Cape Cod Trap Shooters Championship:

Sunday October 5th, 2008 is the date of the Cape Cod Fish & Game Trap Shooters' Championship.  The fun begins at 9am,  this will be a 100-target match.  50 targets will be shot from each field.  Prizes to  be First Place, Runner Up, High Veteran and High Women's. This event is open to all members, their guests as well as the public! This event is not to be confused with the September 20, 2008 Pork and Pigeon Trophy Shoot.
