Heritage Fund? This fund created by our friends at GOAL was created to make monies available to the various gun clubs through out the state. This money is made available to individual clubs by way of a grant application. In essence, what is created by all of us around the state thereby stays here in the state as a way to help various clubs build and update there own shooting facilities. August Meetings: Please

In Memoriam: It
is with deep regret that we have learned of the recent loss of club member Roger
Lofberg. Roger passed away March 28th,
2007 after a period of failing health. Many
of us will remember Roger on the Trap Range on many Sunday Mornings doing battle
“with a number of our many elusive clay pigeons” with his favorite Remington
Model 870 Trap Gun. It should be
noted here that Roger was also an avid smallbore rifle shooter and also had an
interest in handgun shooting. Roger
was a native of New Jersey. He and his wife Florence had been residents of New
York State for over 20 years before retiring to Harwich in 2000. Roger will
surely be missed by all of his fellow trap shooting buddies as well as all of
his friends throughout our club membership. Trap Range: Dan
Welch Chairman All
members are reminded that Trap is shooting Sunday Mornings at 9am, Wednesday
Evenings at 6pm and Friday afternoons from 12pm until 2pm. The cost to shoot is
a mere $3.00 dollars per round of 25 clay targets. Non members will pay just a dollar more!
Our trap range is open to all whether you are a novice, a rookie, an
expert or an ATA superstar. Everyone is welcome so come on down and join us for
some shooting fun! Fame’s Favored Few: Well some of our club trap shooters are burning up the skies with some impressive accomplishments. To date here are some of our member’s various “wins”. Congrats to Bob Fratus Sr. who even after a long hiatus from shooting due to eye surgery has come back with a vengeance and has recently won the “Veterans Category in the All Round Resident Overall Championship” title at the Massachusetts State Shoot. Congrats also go to Dan Welch who won the “B – Class Runner – Up Category” in the “All Round Resident Overall Championship” title in the Massachusetts State Shoot that same weekend! In the recent New Hampshire State Shoot it should be noted that Jim Gillespie won the Preliminary Handicap Championship. Other winners in this shoot were Peter Morgavio who won the “Non Resident C Class Singles Championship and Dan Welch who won the “Non Resident D Class Doubles Championship. Congrats also go to Clayton Dill who took the “Non Resident Veterans Singles Championship. Finally, Congrats also go to Bob Preston who championed his handicap yardage group in both the Maryland State Shoot as well as the Massachusetts State Shoot. It should be mentioned here that in the recent GOAL Trap Shoot Bob Preston also won the “A Class Division”. Dan Welch with his trophies. Peter Morgavio with his trophy. Good
luck and continued success to all of our members of Fame’s Favored Few as
there are a number of shoots left in the 2007 ATA schedule. Less we forget as September is right around the corner and
that means CCF&G’s regular delegation of shooters will be heading to the
22nd Northeastern Grand American Trap Championship Shoot in Cicero
New York. Pictured inset are both
Dan Welch and Peter Morgavio with their trophies from the New Hampshire State
Shoot. August Youth Fishing

Outdoor Range: Howie Bearse ChairmanHowie reported recently that the range was in good shape and that members were taking very good care of both the 100 yard outdoor rifle range as well as the 25 yard outdoor pistol range. A big thank you goes out to all of you who are helping to keep the facility clean and are therefore picking up after themselves after using the facilities. Thank you again! Some Words of Wisdom: “Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional illogical liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.” Authorship unknown, however forwarded by a Mr. L Atwill, hunter, former Special Forces Trooper and arbiter of good taste. |
